Biography

Tharindu Weerasinghe (also known as T.D.B Weerasinghe, D for Darshana and B for Bandara, which are rarely used) is a product of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, Sri Lanka (where he received his primary and secondary education) and he received his first degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2007. He received his masters degree in Information & Communication Engineering from the same university in 2012. Tharindu has an Executive Masters in Information Security from Asia e University, Malaysia, graduated in 2017. He currently works as the Team Lead of the Technical Support Team of BlackSwan Technologies. Tharindu started working there on 6th April 2020. 

Up to December 27th, 2019 he served as the General Manager at Seebo Networks Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and he was one of the pioneering employees of the company. He joined the Seebo project initiative in Sri Lanka, which was an Australian offshore operation on June 9th, 2014; at that time the company was not registered in Sri Lanka.

Prior to Seebo, he worked at IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd. as a software engineer. Tharindu joined IFS on November 3rd, 2008. Prior to IFS, he worked at Interblocks (Pvt) Ltd as a junior software engineer and at the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya, as a temporary academic staff member.

Tharindu became a chartered (computer) engineer in 2015 and he is one of the very few chartered (computer) engineers in Sri Lanka. The engineering charter is offered by the Institute of Engineers - Sri Lanka and Tharindu received the charter after successfully completing two written exams; viva and a technical presentation of experience and project reports.

Tharindu is the eldest son of the 'Weerasinghe' family headed by Dr. A.Weerasinghe (father) and Mrs.Shirani Weerasinghe (mother). His hometown is Kurunegala, a city surrounded by rocks in the North Western part of Sri Lanka. Tharindu is married to Sunimali Jayaweera, who serves as a Fellow in Neuroradiology attached to the Neurological Intervention & Imaging Service of Western Australia. 

Tharindu and Sunimali are proud parents of  a little daughter (Senulya) who is schooling at Musaues College, Colombo-7 (now on approved leave as the family is temporarily staying abroad). As of now, Senulya is temporarily schooling at Subiaco Primary School, Perth, Western Australia.

Tharindu is not only a computer engineer, but also an independent researcher in the areas of Cryptography and Network Security, a freelance journalist (for Vidusara - the oldest science magazine in Sri Lanka, Daily News - the National English Newspaper and Daily Mirror - a Local English Newspaper), a compeer, poet and lyricist

Tharindu has published several books up to now. (Mata Penena Hati, Life as I see it in 2018, Rainbow in 2011, Liyawunu Sithuvili in 2008 & Candlelight in 2007)
